My Favorite Podcasts Right Now

I’ve always loved listening to podcasts on road trips, but lately, I’m listening all the time: at the gym, on walks, while I’m playing on the floor with Carter Jane… I try not to have the TV on during the day with her, but I feel like podcasts are exempt from that rule.  It means I’m not looking at my phone or any screen, and they often make me laugh, so win-win!  And because I’m always looking for new podcast recommendations, I thought I’d share mine.

Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me
My original podcast gateway drug.  It’s a fun and informative news quiz show from NPR put out weekly.  It includes three comedians every week and a guest, ranging from Neil DeGrasse Tyson to Kim Kardashian.  It came to Atlanta, and Nick and I couldn’t go for some reason, and I’m still upset. 45 minutes.

RadioLab
Another NPR production, this podcast is pure captivating storytelling.  They interview anyone with a compelling story and often dive deep into narratives you feel like you should know about, but don’t.  Times vary from 25 minutes to 1 hour, and its pure magic.

Freakonomics
From one of the authors of the bestselling book, Freakonomics, I listen to this one when I can focus and want to feel super-informed.  They cover every topic imaginable and in 35 to 45 minutes take the subject in places you never thought possible.

Lady Gang
Ok, we’re now into the girl podcasts.  I love this one.  It’s a group of three girls who talk about girl issues and being a girl boss. They always interview a guest and give advice to write ins.  They also include quite a lot of pop culture.  An excellent listen for the gym to distract you from the stair master.  About an hour.

B*tch Sesh
Those who don’t watch Bravo or Housewives can skip this one.  But if you do, oh goodness, this podcast makes me laugh out loud (which is especially endearing at the gym when people think you’re a crazy person) (can you tell I’ve been soaking up the free childcare at the Y lately?).  Two comedians discuss their lives as well as every Housewives franchise.  I don’t even watch them all, but you don’t have to watch to find them hilarious.  This one is not clean (warning- listen in headphones!), but hilarious.

What podcasts do you listen to?  I’d love some new recommendations!
