I love skincare. I love trying new products, I love the anticipation of what might make my skin smoother, more glowing, and less under-eye-dark-circly. And I am a marketer’s dream. Ooh, this is made from snails, which make silk and therefore my skin will feel like silk?! Done and done. No, but really.
I have tried some “fancy” skin stuff, I’ve used the drugstore stuff, and I’ve gone without stuff (don’t try that last one). So I have some definite opinions, as I have been let down numerous times (the snail masks are kinda cool, though). But over and over, I return to my one SUPER cheap, SUPER amazing secret.
Baking Soda. Yes, huh!! Ok, I’ll explain. Apparently baking soda can do everything from de-odor your fridge, to whiten your teeth, to SMOOTH YOUR FACE. Most of the time multi-use products freak me out (sorry, coconut oil, I could never get on that train), but I believe in baking soda.
Here’s what you do: mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with one teaspoon of water. Mix it into a paste (you don’t really have to measure, just aim for a paste consistency). Then on a make-up-less face, rub the paste all over for about a minute. Focus on your T zone and any other spots that get rough. Then rinse like a girl in a commercial where water gets everywhere! Or just do it normally. Gently pat your new-baby-skin-face dry. If you like, you can follow up with a Ph balancing mix of a little bit of apple cider vinegar diluted with water swiped all over, or you can just throw on your industrial strength moisturizer like me. #lazy.
You will totally tell a difference when you go to put make-up on (assuming you’re like me and still do that with your hands). Your skin should feel super smooth and a little glowy. I do this once a week, since it’s kinda intense. Baking soda was the original microdermabrasion and is soooooo much cheaper than basically any other skin thing, ever. Win-win.
Let me know if you try it!! I can’t wait to hear how glowy and youthful and amazing you look.
